Ordinary Hazard 1 - Self Closing Doors for Room Design Method 1

Hello,

Im working on a project that has a kitchen that i considered to be ordinary hazard 1 however,
the architect, based on their schedules did not provide an automatic closing doors and the partition walls has 0A - N/A fire rating.

what options do i have other than requesting for them to provide a fire rated automatic closing doors.

is Adjacent Hazard 12.3 NFPA 13 (2013 Ed.) applicable in this situation where i need to extend 15ft from the perimeter?

or should use the minimum hydraulic area calculated?

I assume this is the same job as the one you asked the question about the concealed spaces?

If the walls don't have a fire resistance rating, then adding a rated, self-closing door isn't going to help with your room design calc.

Neither will referencing Chapter 12 for a residential design.

Is this job located in the US or Canada?

Hey thanks again for your input,

This is actually a different project, this is a 2 story commercial in US.

Im looking closely on this one and i think ill be using area/density method on this one maintaining that 912+ sq.ft. of area.

Am i on right track here?
