Orent Datum Plane to View

I've spent the last 6 weeks training 400+ people how to use NX7.5 as part of our global upgrade I'd like to think that by now I've got an answer for most questions, however one question that continually perplexes me, is when people ask why/when would orienting a plane normal to the view direction ever be used? I would be thrilled if someone could put me out of my misery.

The one thing that comes to mind is that it's possible that someone may have moved his model around to some arbitrary orientation and then decided that they wished to created say a sketch with that same orientation and while it is true that you can initiate a sketch using the current view as your sketch plane, some people still like the idea of having an independent and not a sketch generated Datum Plane to use as reference.

Besides, when we developed the Datum Plane function we gave it virtually all of the same 'orientation' options as we did for the WCS which has always been used as a virtual 'plane' for the older, non-associative/non-feature sorts of object creation tasks.

I use it in one particular application.

We are an orthopedics company and I often receive virtual bone models from MRI data that I need to fit components to. These models have no geometry that I can explicitly reference so I often orient the model by sight on the screen then place a datum plane to begin creating sketches that I then use to modify the bone model or constrain components to.

i will use it all day every day. if i need a screw in the "y" direction i use the f8 key to oreint my view to the desired "y" view...orient my wcs to the view....then add my screw. much easier / faster than trying to grab the little "node" on the wcs and rotating it.
