Hi

Is there other make of equipment to monitor vibration of turbo-alternator? We have MARK VIe on our 2 turbo alternators and there is already an electronic card in the panel to connect the ADRE.
If a person is already familiar with Adre will he be able to interpret the measurements done by the other make of vibration monitor? Or he must do a training.

ADRE is software that is used to collect vibration data from a 408 data acquisition system. Both the hardware (408) and software (ADRE) are Bently Nevada products. Typically, critical turbo-machinery has permanent vibration instrumentation (proximity probes, velocity sensors, accelerometers, Keyphasor, etc.) that are connected to a rack that provides power to the sensors and performs machinery protection functions (trips the machine if the vibration becomes too high). The vibration rack should have buffered outputs for all of its channels. The data acquisition system (408) is connected to the buffered outputs to measure/monitor the vibration. Using the buffered output prevents the injection of noise into the actual signals that could result in a false-trip. If the turbomachinery doesn't have a rack with buffered outputs, then an analyst would typically need to connect to the DCS/sensors with the machine off or the vibration trip bypassed. This would have to be repeated to disconnect the data acquisition system.

Reading your question again, an analyst familiar with ADRE would likely be able to connect to your MarkVIe control system, but might need some guidance on where to physically connect the channels.

Thanks spciesla for your reply.

Is there another make of device (less expensive and reliable) other than Bently Nevada 408 that we can connect on our Mark VIe to monitor vibration?
We already have the wiring connections how to connect on the Mark VIe card.

My company has started using BK Vibro for installed systems to replace both the 408 and the 3500 functionality.
