Does anyone know of an easy/automated way to collect the output of free edges or faces from a preprocessor (HyperMesh or Patran) into a format that can be imported into a CAD package (STEP, IGES, VRML, etc.)?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Matthew Ian Loew

I don't want to product plug here, but it's something we can do in FEMAP. You can skin the outside of a solid mesh with shell elements, and then export them as STL or VRML. If you want to send me a Nastran formatted input file of the mesh, I could output an STL file for you.
