Hello fellow heat treaters,
In our heat treat shop we use thermocouples and oxygen probes for carburizing furnace process control. Every three months we replace the thermocouples but we don't normally replace the probes unless they are not working or cannot be cleaned. Cleaning can be difficult for us.
I am interested in comments from the heat treat community as to what is the typical life of a probe, assuming the furnace is running 24/7. Also any suggestions for cleaning are welcome. Thanks!
