Paper space or Model space?

We are using 2000. Since recently expanding, there has been a conflict on using Paper space or Model space. Any comments and/or personnel opinions on these two options would be greatly appreciated.

I use model space just for modeling (no text, dims, etc.), and paper space for all notes, dims, border etc. By doing this, you do not have to worry about text scale, arrow size, etc.

in which vocational field are You working? What do You want to draw?
If You have only one scale (1:1 !), and if You have export the *.dwg to different cad-systems, then use only modell-space. If not, use Paper-space!

Hi,

I have typically drawn everything except the border in Model Space. I use text styles and dimstyles to preset the correct heights and sizes of text and dimensions which allow me to more easily make changes later on in the project. Creating a script file or LISP routine is easy to automate the right dimstyles and text styles. I place the border (at real size) in Paper Space and simply use a viewport to show the necessary graphics inside the border. I do have to scale the view to match the scale that I want to produce, but, that's simple. Plotting is easy in Paper Space as it will then be 1:1 and still give me the correct scale. Also, remember to set the correct PSLTSCALE to get dashed/hidden lines to show up properly.

We draw Mechanical, Piping, some Strucural and Electrical using various scales. Occasionally our files are imported into Medusa Cad System. Currently we use model space, but are wanting to find out if there are any benefits to move to paperr space or stay like we are.

Paper space is GREAT!! The more I use it the more I like it. I put only drawn objects in model space and all borders, dimensions, notes, etc in paper space.
