I'm trying to get an assembly with an exploded view in order to generate some renderings for our website. The files are being sent to me as parasolids.

Do parasolid files save exploded views when exported?

I don't know why he insists on using parasolids either. If any one has some insight on that I would appreciate it.

Thanks
kevin

The parasolid file will NOT contain explode view data. Usually people convert to parasolid because they don't want the customer to reverse engineer their design (or modify it for a future design).

Are you using a different version of SolidWorks? I can't imagine why he would give you parasolids... Are you "just" the "rendering guy"? He may think he is helping you out by giving you "simplified" files.

No, we're a smallish company so I'm a general SolidWorks guy. He may be running SW 2010.

My only guess is that he thinks they will transfer better. He is in working out of Taiwan these days.
