I found this post by chance


I can't further comment in it, that's why i'm starting a new one.

My question is why is there the red lighting bolt in the part, when the external references have the green square.

because the copy is out of context. A single part can only be one thing at any one time, therefore there can only be one instance driving the shape. The in context part (the one with the chain link) is driving the part any other copies are out of context. You can change the in context part using the change context option in the context menu (right click on the part)
