Parts list question

I have seen something weird with parts lists in nx3, 4 and 5 and was wondering if anyone had an explanation/fix for it. The scenario is as follows.

I have an assembly drawing. I add a view from a part. I add the parts list to the drawing. Then I manually add balloon callouts to the drawing. I then do update parts list to add the callouts to each balloon. The count for all components in the parts list is correct, but when I plot it, the count for the item that I added a view from part sometimes ticks up one (on th plot only). I think that it is from the part view added, but I am not sure. Also this only happens once in a while, and on different parts.

The view from a part is added to show how the part is to be assembled in. I know that this can be done with exploded views, but it is sometimes easier to just add the view from a part. Any help/insight would be appreciated.

Thanks

Components included in a 'View from a Part' will NOT be included in the Parts List (and that is by design). The Parts List only accounts for the components in the assembly which the drawing was originally linked to. 'View from a Part' is intended for adding 'reference' views only and NOT additional items to the assembly.

John,
I agree with your statement. Is there a reason why our parts lists sometimes increase the quantity of the component that was added by view from a part? We are not adding the view from part with hopes of increasing the count in the parts list, but we are sometime seeing this behavior.

What you're seeing I suspect is only temporary. In older releases we saw that, but when you saved your Drawing and reopened it later it often fixed the problem. I think this may have been finally addressed in NX 6.0.
