I use assembly components two different ways but it's making work for me in drafting assemblies with parts lists.
The two methods I use:
1. A "transparent assembly", not part list reporting. Is a convenient way to keep a multiple part configuration together when placing or updating. This part would never show up on a parts list because I have the PLIST_IGNORE_MEMBER attribute set at the top level "part". But I need to see the children parts.
2. A "true assembly" reporting to parts list. It may be a sub-assembly or a weldment.
If I use the "Edit Levels" command on the Parts List I can select "Top Level Only". I get the result I want from the "true assembly"
But I don't get the children I need from "transparent assemblies"
This denies me the ability to use "Top Level Only" and I have to manually assign the PLIST_IGNORE_MEMBER attribute to each child component in my "true assemblies" to filter them out of the Parts List.
Is there a "PLIST_XXXXX_XXXXX" attribute that I can assign to the "transparent assembly"??? It would then allow me to use the "Top Level Only" filter on the parts list and still see the child parts.
It seems to me we should have one but I've tried the ones I know about below. I haven't found any combination of them to work.
PLIST_IGNORE_SUBASSEMBLY
PLIST_REFERENCE_COMPONENT
Am I missing something here or do I need to change my method??
TIA
