New SW 2014 user...I don't get it, why does everything stop and SLLLLLOOOOOO way down anytime I make a linear pattern of features or even inside a sketch. My computer has plenty of memory and a 2 GB video card. I never had this happen with Catia or NX.

Anytime there is a large qty of pattern data either improted or created natively, if I do any actions on the pattern, like split or whatever, it takes like 5 minutes waiting for the wheel to spin around until the action is performed. Also, takes forever to save, sometimes the machines just locks up and never does save, even after 15 minutes. This problem only happens when I have to deal with patterned data. Everything else seems to work normally.

Patterns are performance killers in SolidWorks unfortunately.

Anna, made sure the setting was off. Check
SBaugh, tried playing around with the position of the freeze bar, did not seem to make much difference in the preformance of the model further down the tree.
Only poistive thing I find is to suppress the previous patterns while each new pattern is being developed.

Freeze only freezes everything up to that bar. If you have more patterns after the freeze bar then yes it will still be slow. Try moving it further down to see if you get better performance out of it.
