I bought a TV Tuner for my laptop and was working properly in my country in the middle east. When I moved to England it CAN detect channels but there is no sound. When I use "fine tune" and shift the frequency -0.25MHz, sound comes BUT the image goes away (with the same laptop). Is there different standards for frequency shift between Audio and Video Signals in different countries? Or does my Tuner have a problem?

Cheers

Middle eastern countries format the television signals in either PAL or SECAM or may use both. The UK is a PAL. I searched, and found the following web site which indicates that within the PAL standard there are different sound carrier offsets. Perhaps someone else may have additional information on standards for each country. You may want to post in which middle eastern country you bought your tuner.

Thanks Comcodik,

That was a helpful site. I bought the card in Iran and the system is SECAM H in there. Here in Britain is PAL but the sound carrier offset for both cases seems to be the same(0.5 MHz). However, there is a menu to adjust the country and/or the broadcasting system(PAL,NTSC,...). I used all of them and with PAL N, PAL M and PAL I experienced the same problem.
Any help is appretiated.

Cheers
