PDM Problem - can't unsupress files

Im trying to unsupress files in an assembly we have in our PDM vault.

I know the location of the part files. I know the references are pointing to the right location and the file names in the references agree with what the files are actually named. For some crazy reason though, they arent opening in the assembly though - and the assembly won't let me unsuppress them. If I cursor over them in the design tree it just reads 'unable to find component' or something like that.

Have I overlooked something here or does my computer just need a swift and mighty kick in the face?

Are the files on your hard drive? If not, try that. Also, simply opening the part files individually can help as well.

Probably the assy is refering to the parts in a particular location and they are no longer there, hence the 'unable to find component' message. In your assy go to File -> Find References and see where it is expecting to find your part files. It is likely not the location you know them to be in.

As Jeff says, if you open the part files individually and then open the assy it will update its pointers to know where the parts are and you will have reset/fixed your assy. However, the fact this happened and you are using PDM indicates there is a problem with procedure on Check-in or with manually filing things in your vault. You'll want to flush that out and fix it (train someone on proper procedure).

Nah. It wasnt the references. I had tried that (opening individually, then the assembly), plus I know the reference paths were pointing in the right area. The design tree in the assembly just wouldnt update for some reason.

I ended up re-inserting and mating files into my assembly (there were only a few fortunately). Im just wondering why it didnt seem to update when the references were pointing to the right location.

Anyhow, thanks anyway.
