How can I find out whether California PE liscence is validated in other states? California has minimum years of experience ...so if I get PE from CA and try to tranfer it to say, IL; will IL accept it although my experience doesn't make me eligible for IL PE exam?

Hi, fyaure:

You have to contact the State Board in which you plan to apply for commity of license.

Hope that helps,
Roberto.

I don't know about IL-PE but with a California Civil and Structural, you can get equivalent licenses by reciprocity in Washington, Arizona, Nevada and Hawaii (without examinations).

Sometimes it is like a tug-o-war with the licensing boards when it comes to sending them the appropriate school transcripts, experience engagement records etc. Eventually they will grant you the license.

If you are planning on getting licenses from many states, it may be easier to establish an NCEES Record.

Most states will grant you comity for an eqivalent license - as long as you ALSO meet that state's requirements. Most likely you'll be waiting the two additional years, but will not have to retake the exam.
