Is anyone aware if pre eng buildings are common/used at all in Europe? Based on google and some discussions with colleagues it doesn't appear so, but I wonder if someone knows for sure.

More and more common in Norway it seems, also for "non typical" PEMB buildings.
 
Don't search for the term PEMB or Pre-engineered. That phrase was coined in the US back when manufacturers had kit buildings that couldn't be customized but could be put anywhere. These days they are all custom designed and manufacturers don't like what the term pre-engineered implies. Search instead for "metal building systems" or similar phrases that make sense in whatever local language.
