Hi, everybody,

I have a case, If the ASME Code 8-1 is allowed the pipe of OD406mm, Thickness 32mm, SA106b is machined into OD377mm, Thickness10mm?

As far as my known, the machining for the pipe could not find any clue from ASME Code 8-1. I think this is allowed per the Code.

In additional, the material including the elongation has met the requirement of SA-106.

Could do you give your opinion that this machining is allowed or not according to the requirements of ASME Code?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not aware of any restriction against it as long as ALL of the requirements of SA-106 Gr B are met.

Yes, you can machine the pipe to a different size.
