Hello,

I would like to know if there is any way of applying a phase shift to a 50Hz AC voltage.
I know that it is done on circuit board using op-amps, but is there any way of doing this at a high power level, say phase-shifting the 220V single phase AC voltage to a 20kVA load.

Thanks

Is there any way to use power electronics to do this?
Or is a phase-shift transformer the only way to do it?!

Thanks

Yes, there is a way to phase shift and input power source. There are at least the following options:

- Phase shifting transformer.
- Rotary converter.
- Static converter.
NOTE: Three-phase transformer connected delta-wye provides a natural fix phase shift of 30 degrees. Phase shifting transformer is available for high voltage applications. I am not sure if at LV there are commercially available cost effective options. Check the enclose link for reference.

Thank you for your help.

I have now decided to avoid using power electronics, so I guess that a phase shifting transformer is the only way to proceed!
