How can I pick part of a subassembly to explode? Sometimes I want the sub and sometimes I want just a part or two of the sub. I know this must be easy, but I am getting readjusted to SW after two years on Inventor, and I have searched for the answer to no avail.

Thanks,
Steve

There's an option in the explode feature tree to include the sub-assembly or individual part (near the bottom I think).

I'd give you the actual name, but I've recently switched to Inventor and can't remember it off the top of my head.

Thanks. I had to scroll down the explosion menu to uncover it.

I've had 5 years of SW, 2 years of Pro-E, and 2 years of Inventor. SW is my favorite and I am back on it after 2 years on Inventor. It will take me a little while to get my sea legs back.

Thanks,
Steve

handleman ... The OP wants a partial Explode, not a partial Dissolve. [smile]

In SW2009, there is an option to Select sub-assembly's parts. There should be a similar but differently termed option in the SW2006 Explode Manager.

In the explode FM, under Options, you can choose to 'Select sub-assembly's parts'. Also, you can reuse a Sub-assembly's explode.
