Hi All,

I want to know, how to calculate the minimum distance between two adjacent pig trap?

In my case pig trap size is 12" & 16"

Thanks in advance

That will depend on the type of pigs and how much dirt, liquids, hydrates or wax you expect to build up within your pipeline and how much you expect to clean off during the pig run.

you must get smarter than the software you're using.

rizpet,

Consider the size of the Pig Trap (Pig Launcher/Receiver), all the piping involved, the purpose and size of the Pig, the type and size of the mess from what comes out when you open the Pig Receiver, then add enough area for people (1.5 times the actual number you need) plus their tools.

Each Pig Launcher/Receiver area should be independently paved and curbed (8" to 10" high) to contain spillage. The curb at the maintenance access end should be ramped for drive in/drive out. The paving should slope down from the drive in/out end to the low point at the opposite end. A drain sump should be provided at the low end for pump-out (if in a remote areas) or connected to the oily water sewer (if in a plant areas).

Don't forget to include lighting for the area. Maintenance needs to be able to do their work 24 hours a day.

prognosis: Lead or Lag

rizpet,

Do you mean side by side (parallel) or end to end?

side by side - function of all the things pennpiper says. Unless you're really short of space give 3- 5m as a good distance. all depends on your piping layout really.

End to end - 10m+ to allow for intelligent pigs and their removal tools

My motto: Learn something new every day

Also: There's usually a good reason why everyone does it that way
