Dear All,

Does anybody have records on pile installation productivity? I would like to know the average installation per driving unit per day, both of precast piles and expanded bottom piles (reinforced), compaction type.

Soil is silty sandy, approximate pile diameter 0.4m x 20.0m lg.

Thank you for the help,

Quite a bit more information is required - how deep do the piles have to be driven? How "clear" is the site for movement of the rig? - for example.

The piles in my project need to be driven about 20m, the piles' length is 25m. The area is completely clear, no obstructions in around a 7 km radius.

I know that many factors affect productivity during pile installation, equipment, soil stratigraphy, labour, weather, etc. to mention a few.

What I am looking for is the average number of piles installed per day, per driving unit based on real experience. Is there a reference that can be consulted? Other than the R.S. Means books?

Pile driving production is always tricky to predict. Depends on a lot of variables. I don't know about the expanded base piles. I assume you are talking about Frankie piles. Since they are competive with other driven piles I would assume their production to be compariable to the prestress.
For prstess I assume there are no obstructions moderate driving. hydraulic hammer, 150 to 250 ton crane with fixed leads and a hydraulic service crane, and the piles have been spotted in advance. I would estimate somewhere between 10 to 20 piles a day, probably closer to 12.
Best reference would be a couple of local piling contractors.
