I have a 600' long proposed asphalt roadway (20' wide)that a developer wants to build over very challanging conditions. The road would be 15% grade and over an area designated as a land slide hazard area. Initial geotech evaluations state that the road could be built but a pile wall would have to be constructed along the entire south side to retain it. Not sure how deep the piles need to be to stabilize it. Im guessing 100'+ feet. I am just trying to get a VERY general cost of what it might take to build this wall. The actual exposed hieght of the wall will only be 12'14' in the revine areas but the big cost will be the piles. Would anyone have a general idea of what it would cost to build something like this?

For a steel sheet pile wall along a waterfront, the construction cost is generally $2,500 to $3,000 per horizontal lineal foot.

Not exactly your condition, but I think this begins to get you in the ballpark.

Typical soldier pile tieback wall goes from $80 to $150 per square foot. However for 100' long piles and diffficult access to the site this numbers can easily tripple.

If the exposed height (ie retained height) is only 12-14 feet depth of piles would not be any where near 100feet. More like 20feet. If you could give us a cross section through the road showing the slope angles on the upslope and downslope side of the road I woudld be able to provide you width a very approximate cost per square meter.
