Seamless pipes (ASTM A106 GR B) are getting crack while doing cold bend of 2D Radius..
What was the reason???.
Samples tested in lab .. found all chemical properties are meeting 106 grade B standard.

You cannot cold bend to a 2D radius!

A black swan to a turkey is a white swan to the butcher.

You are exceeding the UTS of the pipe while bending.

That's the reason.

Cold bend 2D?
Why?
LR Elbows are 1.5D and are forged.

For doing cold bend of 2D radius is acceptable by class and standard.
However we found the supplier was supplied casing pipes with certificate of ASTM A106 gr B.

Material composition are perfectly matching, but yield and tensil strength given in higher value.
ASTM A106GRADE B is mentioning about minimum value of yield and tensil nowhere no where s saying Max limit.
That is the reason we are not able to find the
issue.
Now issue has been solved.
Thanks for your quick response

Sounds like you did find the max. The hard way.

A black swan to a turkey is a white swan to the butcher.

What class and what standard?

how have you solved the issue?
