I need recommedations on repairing small pinhole leaks in large (30" to 60" dia.) piping. Piping is transporting air (8 psig) for a sewage treatment plant aeration system. Piping system cannot be opened for repair, but can be shut down for 1-3 hrs. Piping is steel with Dresser couplings. Thanks.

Is there any coating on it now?

Also, as you know of course, find our what is causing the "pinholes".

I think this type of repair system will more than adequate for your repairs base on your OP. I don't believe you need a fusion system. Metal clamps can get expensive very quickly.

Here a just a few of the many repair systems that will do your job. I didn't run down any specifics on any of the products. I've used the Dura Power Product and also one called Sealtight from Team Industries.

You might want to look at Denso type products if external corrosion is the problem.

clamp on a 60" would definitely set you back a few centavos.

Thanks for all the great replies. The piping is currently painted. I think the corrosion comes from the fact that it is aeration piping for a sewage treatment plant and is probably seeing some corrosive fumes from the chemicals used or from the sewage. I am not sure if the corrosion is inside or the exterior. Maybe both.
Now that I know some methods, I can write up a scope of work for it.
