Please, i want help in the area of pipe span and shoe bearing calculation. i like to have the formula and if possible an excel spread sheet.

i will be glad if i can get this help.

pipe span depends on line size as well as fluid carried, this combine load and other parameters like space, operating condition, availability of structure and cost will dictate type of support to be used. I hove not heared of blanket treatment.

For allowable load at support, the following formula can be used :

- Pa = Sh.texp1.5 b/1.8 sqrtR

Pa = allowable load at the support
t = effective thickness ( pipe wall + pad ) (inches )
b = bearing length of pipe (along the pipe axis)on the support structure
Sh = allowable stress (per ASME piping Code )
R = Outside radious of pipe
