Welder qualified 16"Butt weld 6G position, This cover branch 6" Weldolet or not. ??
if not cover, How to re-qualify welder test to cover this 6" branch
Thank you for your kind advise and consult
Best regards,
ThanaQC
If the end user's specification does not call for a separate branch connection qualification, the weldolet, being a butt weld, would have to be in the diameter range of 6.2.2 d). A number of end users generally wish to see a multiple qualification exercise.
Steve,
I don't agree with you since the API 1104 doesn't specify that branch welder qualification test shall be done only if it is a project requirement.
ThanaQC,
Since it is for full penetration welding you shall follow the 6.5.1, Figure 12 for single qualification or you shall perform multiple qualification if you prefer the welder to cover a greater variety of weldings.
For single qualification please have a look at this link:
ThanaQC,
Please let me add that the existing qualification doesn't qualify for your production welding since the essential variable 6.2.2 (d) doesn't apply (the qualification has been done on 16" circumferential weld and you are to weld 6" circumferential weld and thus you shall change outside diameter group)
