Piping End Cap of Equivalent Material 3

Hi,

Please advise, We are going to Isolate Boiler HP steam pipeline by installing an Ellipsoidal END CAP.
Material of the HP Steam Pipeline is 13CrMo44 and pipe OD is 219.8mm.
As END CAP of this material (13CrMo44) is locally not available, so the Contractor is offering an equivalent material END CAP made from SA335 P11.
It that acceptable to weld 13CrMo44 piping with SA335 P11 end Cap with a qualified WPS.

XL83NL Thanks for your reply. But i didn't understand your question rather i would more clarify that this boiler is in service for last 40Yrs.
We are planning cut and blind (by installing welded END CAP) its one HP steam pipeline going to desalination plant.

Have you verified how both materials compare when reviewing their applicable product standards? Chemical, mechanical, hardness, heat treatment, etc?
Which standard applies for the 13CrMo44 material, EN 10253-2?
Please bear that ASTM A335 is for seamless pipe, so i don’t think it’s an acceptable alternative when you’re looking for equivalent product standard for fittings.

Likely more like SA-234 WP11 for a fitting. No idea if it matches 13CrMo44.

Yes, 13CrMo44 is as per 10253-2.

If they offer fittings in ASTM equivalent so what should be the criteria of acceptance?

EN-10253-2 is for butt welding fittings
SA-335 P11 is for pipes
Something is wrong from you

Now:
SA-335 P11 pipes is UNS K11597 P-No. 4 Group No.1
SA-234 WP11 fittings is UNS…… P-No. 4 Group No.1
SA-182 F11 forged fittings is K11597 P-No. 4 Group No.1

You can weld them with a qualified WPS.
