My Friends,
I am working on a job in the USA with a team of people who have come from various other companies, countries, sites, etc. Recently there has been some confusion in the terminology people are using for various piping isolation components like: spectacle blinds, figure 8's, slip plates, blanks, blinds, spades, flat caps, pancakes, steam-out blinds, etc. These terms have local meanings with respect to purpose, location, thickness, strength, material, etc.
Is there a standard American (API, ASME, ANSI, etc) reference for such hardware so that we all use the same lingo? One possible reference would be API STD 590, but this is no longer active, and not part of our IHS subscription.
Any help is appreciated.
best wishes,
SShep
