Gentlemen,

I am new with the industry and currently working for an operating company. We have to review piping specs. from time to time for different projects, different applications.

I am looking for a piping sofware that could do piping and its components wall thickness calculation per ASME B31.1, B31.3, B31.4, B31.8 and in other special case such as vacuum...

Could you please give me some recommendation on what software I should use based on its functionalities, flexibilities (easy to upgrade or modify), and user-friendly.

Thank you for your time and please forgive me if I did not cover all ground.

Thanks again

TC

TCMECH,

One thing that you might want to look at is this very useful suite of excel spreadsheets that was created and is maintained bu Ben Nottingham. I have it, I use it and I find it to be a real timesaver.

I use MathCAD for all the calcs you mention. It works and is self documenting.

Click on the banner at the top of page for 'Pipemill' software and download a free evaluation copy. It will deal with all the questions you raised and many more, such as flange design, tees and stub-in branches, jacketed pipe, expansion loop sizing, pipe span charts, trunnion stresses, acoustic fatigue .... etc.

Try ROHR2 ( Pipe Stress Analysis. It´s european standard, knows all relevant pipe rules.
The surface is known as user friendly and easy to use. ROHR2 offers several additional programs and a huge variety of interfaces tlike PCF, PDMS, PDS.
