Piping software

Does anyone have any information on piping software that can be used in the design and layout of fishery/hatchery hydraulic projects? We are interested in parametric 3-D pipe drawings from which we can cut sections, and extract such information such as pipe lane length, fitting information etc.
Any information would be a great help.

I know nothing about it but I do know that SolidWorks has a piping module. I'd at least start there.
