A SS-316L pipe is geing passed through or penetrated into a carbon steel tank and i need to seal the space between Pipe and tank (where pipe will pass through).
how can i select a piping Gland , or there is any other method to do this job.
what will be the material of the gland, normally its of Plastics.

Trible...

How about installing a carbon steel flanged nozzle, somewhat larger than the pipe, on the tank ?

You can put a SS blind flange on the new nozzle and run the ss pipe through the flange.

Weld the SS pipe to the blind....??

Thanks MJC

We want to avoid welding on pipes(as we will use threded or farruled connections on pipes), is there any other solution.

As you mentioed the usage of flange, if we install flanges on both sides of the tank (where we want to penetrate the pipe into the tank) and then join the pipe on these flanges by other type of flange. one think to remember that the prssure in the pipe (service Fluid is AIR) is 250bars, so a flange connection can withstand this prssure?

Assuming the tank pressure is nowhere near 250 bars, you could get a piece of CS pipe with an ID larger than the flanges on the SS pipe, and weld it into the tank, forming a tunnel through which you can pass an entire flanged length of SS pipe, without the SS necessarily even touching the CS.

I.e., turn the tank into a torus, topologically speaking. No seals required.

Thanks MIKE,

As you proposed, if we make a tunnel of CS pipe (as you mentioned) and then pass SS pipe through it having flanged connections but how can we insure the sealing of the tank.
i am still confuse.

thanks

Make a drawing of what you are trying to do.
