Pitch Circles on Drawings

I've had this problem several times, where i want to show a pitch circle on a drawing. Such as a diameter that a series of holes would be drilled on.

There is several options
-sketch within the drawing
-sketch within the part

In both you have to have 'view sketches' turned on. If the sketch is a seperate sketch all on its own, within a part file, I can at least selectively make it the only sketch that shows. Typically a few sketches will be on and its a pain to open parts, turn off sketches, etc.

Second problem is that the sketched line prints really ugly. It does not seem to change when changing the Image Quality settings in tools. It continues to come out as a series of short dashes instead of a circle.

Any ideas ?

What version of SolidWorks are you running?

If I remember correctly this has been around for a few releases but after using SolidWorks for so long they all kind of blend together.I think what you are looking for is the circular center mark pattern within the center mark tool. This can be easily done on the drawing by choosing the center mark tool from the annotations tools and selecting all the holes edges contained in the pitch circle pattern.

The center mark tool gives three options to choose from:
1) Single center mark
2) Linear center mark
3) Circular center mark (this is the one you want to choose)

Hope this helps!

That's ok, I've been adding centerlines manually to drawings till just a few months ago. Where's my dunce cap? [ponder]
