Plain carbon steel - temper toughness

Hi,

I am looking for a graph or chart of information regarding temper toughness of plain carbon steels. I have found a graph showing the type of information I am seeking, but this one is for 4140 -
The graph has Izod or Charpy on one axis, and tempering temperature on the other.

I am looking for an identical graph for medium carbon steel like 1055 or EN9 (or 1045 or 1060). Ideally I would like to also find graphs for low carbon 1020 and high carbon 1095 so I can do a comparison to see the effect of carbon change on temper toughness.

Does anyone know of a web page or a book, or perhaps a materials testing organisation that I could write to, to find this information.

Thanks,
Matt Donoghue.

I am surprised that this info is turning out to be so hard to find. I have looked through the ASM Metals handbook, Vol one has a whole chapter devoted to "Notch Toughness of Steels" and it doesn't have this info.

I wonder if this information is something that Engineers assume to be too basic to include. I assume that for plain carbon steel that it would be fairly linear with no temper troughs but unless I see some data I can't say for sure.

I have just ordered a book called "Principles of the Heat Treatment of Plain Carbon and Low Alloy Steel". I hope (fingers crossed) that the information is in there.

Matt.
