Plasma cutting steel plate in preparation for fabricating multi-sided monopoles

As plasma cutting is relatively new, I think this may be why I don't see much reference to plasma cutting in current Steel and Welding Codes.

I am wondering if there are any thoughts out there on how it would affect the long-term performance of such structures?

Companies like Valmont have been plasma-cutting (both the steel plate used to fold into tubes and the various vangs and attachments) for many years. It should be a better end condition than shearing, especially if the edges are ground for standard weld prep.
