Hi all,

Does anybody have any helpful resources for plastic lumber composite design? I am trying to design a support structure for an exterior sign, and the customer would like to use this material. I have some concerns with regards to creep and temperature induced stresses. I also am not sure if I am supposed to design the members with adjustment factors (like for traditional wood design), and I am unaware of any connectors that are compatible with the material.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Have you any additional information on the type of composite/plastic lumber you intend to use? Recycled and non-recycled HDPE, PVC, PP, and ABS are typically used, along with varying types of wood and/or synthetic fibers used.

My experience, you have to look out for 'creep'.

Rather than think climate change and the corona virus as science, think of it as the wrath of God. Feel any better?
