I have never designed a plate & frame exchanger.
With that said, can anyone tell me approximate size of a plate & frame exchanger with 40,000 ft^2 surface area assuming one pass design? I am in process of contacting a exchanger vendor...

Appreciate any feedbacks.

First question I have is whether the 40,000 sft area is based on shell and tube design. Plate and frame exchangers (PHE) give higher U's perhaps as much as 2X.

Some rough estimates are as follows: Tranter builds PHE's to 22,000 sft; APV to 3500 m^2.
Consider 22,000 sft in a GX-325 size from Tranter (12" nozzles). Some 608 plates are needed to give 22,000 sft.
Dimensions are 172" high X 50" wide X 97" deep.
