Hi all,
Do any one know the meaning of the term " plate test" in the paragraph below and why do they apply that test at such conditions(After steam temperature is over 450C and no condensate is observed through start-up drain, the HHP steam is considered to be dry.
" The HHP Steam header must be warmed up and it must be ensured that HHP steam flowing through main header dry before it is taken in STG (Steam Turbine Generator). Start-up vent and drain provided at far end of HHP header are used during start-up to heat HHP steam header. Condensate is drained through start-up drain and steam is vented from start-up vent through the silencer. Steam venting is throttled using globe valve located in the vent line. Operator periodically operates start-up drain and observes for condensate flow. After steam temperature shows >450C and no condensate is observed through start up drain, the HHP steam is considered to be dry. There after plate test is carried out to ensure cleanliness of HHP steam header".
