Hello,

I am modelling vibration of a generator atop a 10m deep layer of soil. I would like to, if possible, eliminate the initial phase from my analysis. My current phases are as follows:
Initial Phase (Phase 1)
Calculation Type: Gravity Loading[\indent]
Apply Time Dependent Load (Phase 2)
Let Vibrate (Phase 3)
To monitor the effects of phase 1 (which ultimately I don't care about but the program forces me to keep it), I have varied the ΣM_weight value from 0 to 30. It turns out this has no effect on the displacements or stresses. What then is the purpose of the intial phase? I understand it is to initialize stresses but how come it is having no impact on my results?
I have attached a copy of my project to this posting. Also are there any other good recommended forums for Plaxis2D program. Yeah Yeah there is always support, but its just not the same...
ΣM_weight: Varies, this is the purpose of my question
Apply Time Dependent Load (Phase 2)
Load Multiplier with Amp = 1, Phase = 0 deg and Frequency = 10 Hz.
Calculation Type: Dynamic
Dynamic Time Interval = 0.5 s
Let Vibrate (Phase 3)
No loading, free vibration
Dynamic Time Interval = 0.5s
To monitor the effects of phase 1 (which ultimately I don't care about but the program forces me to keep it), I have varied the ΣM_weight value from 0 to 30. It turns out this has no effect on the displacements or stresses. What then is the purpose of the intial phase? I understand it is to initialize stresses but how come it is having no impact on my results?
