Hi fellow Engineers,
Please see attached strip foundation with Plinth design. My problem is that I have never done a plinth wall design before only cavity walls etc. Can I place my cavity wall central to strip foundation as per normal ignoring Plinth? or do I need to add eccentricity to the foundation to make the load central to the strip foundation?

Any advise would be really helpful on the subject.

What you are showing is not a plinth. A plinth is a pedestal for whatever is on top. Your "plinth" does not support anything and seems to serve no useful purpose other than perhaps aesthetic.

In any case, the center of the footing should coincide with the c.g. of load or alternatively, if it does not coincide, the maximum bearing pressure should not exceed the allowable value.

If that “plinth” was made out of a mixture of flour, water and egg, it would make no difference to the primary structure.

As above, footing should ideally be centred beneath the centre line of the resultant load - or if not, at least account for the eccentricities.

Is there still a question regarding positioning of strip footing?
