Pocket Penetrometers

Hi, can you recommend manufacturers for pocket penetrometers? I am in Japan so it need to be shipped here. I am currently using a SOILTEST pocket penetrometer but want to buy a new one as it is getting old...Thanks.

Hi, do you use also the Torvane? For field shear strength readings, clients normally give the option to use pocket penetrometers or Torvanes, so just want to compare between these 2 tools.

I like both, but we normally just use PP.

I prefer to use geovane, you may check the undisturbed and disturbed soil strength.

Looks like a torvane. I guess that geovane is the name you use in NZ for torvanes? Thanks.

LOk's geovane is not a torvane. It is like a miniature lab vane; a torvane has multiple projections around the outside circumference - see attachment
