Trying to determine the point load at the end of a cantilevered joist. I'm a chemical engineer so please forgive me. The wall above has a dead load of 80 plf and a snow load of 110 plf. If my joists are at 16" o/c is my point load 1.333 ft*190/2=127 lbs? If not please help. I know its a simple answer. Thanks.

You have the right idea, but don't divide by 2......get 253 lb

Thank you!! I haven't been on here in years. Still the same great help.

your "/2" ... you were thinking each panel is supported by two frames. But then each frame is supporting two panels.

Each frame supports 16" of load or 253lbs.

another day in paradise, or is paradise one day closer ?
