Hello all,

Question #1:

I have a question regarding solid modeling in SAP2000. Let’s I model a solid cube that is 5 m in all sides. I can do that by simply creating an area of 5 m by 5 m then extruding AREA to SOLID in the dz direction of 5 m.

Now I want to apply a point load at specific location for example at 1,1,1 or 2,2,2, how do I do that?

I tried simply adding a joint at these location and adding a joint load, but the solid doesn’t take it into consideration.

Question #2:

Is there any way to merge 2 solids together to make it into a single solid?

Thank you in advance for your time all!

How did you "add" a joint in your solid element? In order to assign a joint load, there must be a meshed joint location there. You cannot simply draw a special joint on area or solid elements to assign a joint load like you can do with frame elements.
