I have received a sample of 4mm polycarbonate sheet pieces cut to size and edges polished.
The edges are clear like glass - I can see right through the edge to the other edge - like glass.
The plastic is also colourless, well maybe an extremely feint blue tinge in the right light.

I have not burnt it yet but I suspect what I've received is acrylic.

Does anyone know if PC edges can be polished to be perfectly clear - like glass.

All help appreciated.

Yes I believe that it can.
I worked at a place developing new applications with PC sheets. We worked with 6 mm thick sample sheets, and would store them hanging vertically. I remember one time about 20 sheets of our parent company's sheets were hung up next to a competitor's 20 sheets. All sheets were supposed to be "transparent" or "optical quality". Our formulation and blending quality was such that one could not see through our 20 sheets. The visual image seen through the 20 sheets was very gray and fuzzy. The competitor's 20 sheets were almost crystal clear. Like glass.

PC is supposed to be shatterproof. Try bending your samples and see if they break. Like acrylic.
