Dear all

I'm searching for a plastic material which is suitable to be use for outdoor elektrical housings (size "letter" or A4) installed all over the world. These housings are made of 2 pieces, screwed together - which means these is high load locally applied (in order to compress the sealing). A long lifetiome is crucial (20 years?). Also requested from the customer is low flammability, means UL94-V0 if possible.
So, which is the polymer-way to go?

Thank you for your hints! [thumbsup2]

A Flame retardant PBT should do the job.

Polyesters are very good outdoors. Black even better.

Remember that the main effect of UV on plastics is to degrade the surface, introducing micro fissures which drop the impact strength dramatically. It doesn't just turn to dust and blow away...

Post moulding painting could add another layer of protection for exposed surfaces.
