PONTOONS DESIGN OF EXTERNAL FLOATING ROOF

Hi all,

I never have designed an external floating roof, but now i0m working in a project with this kind of equipment.

I have a lot of questions about the topic. Can anyone give a guideline in order to start???

How many pontoons have an external floating rood??

I have never seen any useful publicly available information on the topic. Designs are proprietary by each manufacturer. Designs have also varied tremendously through the years, and from manufacturer to manufacturer.

On the number of pontoons, you have a requirement that the roof must float if the center deck and any two adjacent pontoons are punctured, and that, to some extent, provides the lower limit of the number of pontoons for a smaller roof.
