I have been working through SCI publication 087 (The behaviour of Steel Portal Frames in Boundary Conditions.
Following the 1st design example I worked out I need 155mm^2 cross sectional area to achieve the criteria for longitudinal stability. I am assuming this is provided along the building be the eaves tie, is this correct?

Hi Vinny

I believe the current SCI Publication for dealing with steel portals in boundary conditions is P313.

This superceded P087.

Do you know if there are any significant differences?

I dont have both publications in front of me now, but I believe the largest change was to increase the scope of the document to include trussed construction also.

I have a copy of the new publication now. Thanks for the help
