Question. We are using ver 19.0 mdfa post builder. Hmmm I think that's right. Anyway, when we post a a file we would like the program name to be diffrent than the UG file name.
We like to name the UG File name by part number and operation. We currently use the PARTNO/ command to generate the program number and would like to name the program file the same name. Any suggestions on how we can do that?

Are you using the older MDFG/GPM post or the new UG/Post and UG/Post Builder?

There never was a V19.0 of UG. Are you using NX V1?

To get the data you need into the tape image and filename, you need to insert the data into the program control blocks of UG. I haven't used UG for CAM in 4 years, so my terminology may be off. I had a GRIP program that would insert the data into UG and the post would output it.

"Fixed in the next release" should replace "Product First" as the PTC slogan.

I believe the MDFG/GPM may have come with NX. The v19.0 I believe only refers to the post builder not UG19.
I currently get the program number inserted through the control block's and I'm wondering if the cnc file name can be output with that same name. ie. Program O1234 would be file name 1234.eia. But the UG file itself would have a diffrent name all together. Hope that makes sense.

In the Operation Manager, you should be able to name the operation to your tape name.

If you aree using the MDF/GPM, I would suggest moving up to the newer UG/Post as it as more capabilities in NX.

Thanks for the input. I will start looking at the new post processor. Are the use of macro's in the new post processor supported.
