Hi,

I've started using 3D laminate elements in Femap in order to model a thick carbon beam with important transverse shear load.

I am having trouble post processing stresses in the laminate.

My stacking is the following :

And for the post processing, ply numbers in the stacking and ply numbers for post processing do not match :

Does anybody know a good way to know in which ply you are post processing? It seems that global plies do not work with 3D laminates (or I'm not using them the right way).

Many thanks for your help,

Pierre

In the definition of layup 300 I see that no global plies are assigned for ply 1-4. Therefore I believe those ply results should by corresponding #..Solid Ply1 - #..Solid Ply4.

Can you elaborate a bit more why you have highlighted Ply7 and Ply8 in the second picture?

Hi TG_eng,

I've look into the subject a bit more. You are right, I need to apply a global ply to each one of the layup in order to postprocess with global plies. It works now.

Thank you,
