My company has been asked to recommend one of our specialy hydraulic pumps to pump a solution of potassium dichromate.

I assume that they are referring to a water mixture in the 5-10% range.

What I am looking for:
1) A reference to compatibility with viton rubber and/or similar materials.
2) A reference to any of the fluid properties of this kind of mixture (viscosity, density, etc.).

Thanks in advance to anyone that can lead me to any info.

In relation to Potassium Dichromate with Viton rubber, there is no problem, I am assuming the temperature would be around ambient conditions. Viton is still OK at elevated temperatures about 150C, but the life of elastomer will obviously not be as long. Sorry I cannot help you with your second point.
I hope this helps...............

You can find reference of the solution of potassium dichromate in Perry's handbook .

Chemical supply companies often include an extensive table in their catalogs showing the compatibility of various chemicals with various kinds of O-ring rubber (& sometimes with metals too.) I'd call Sargent Welch or Malinkrodt or maybe Cole Parmer and ask if they could send you a catalog.

Meintsi,

If there are still fluid properties you need, email me and I'll send you a table of stuff I found. Sciguyjim@yahoo.com
