Can anybody tell me, is it possible to use PPI Cable (I've got it from S7-200 starting kit) to communicate to S7-300 as well? Thanks.

The S7-200 uses a PPI interface, the cable you have is for these units only. The S7-300 uses a MPI interface.

Both are RS485 based, but the protocols are different.

There are 3rd party interfaces available that will do both. I have not tested, but have heard reccommendations for the interface from Process-Informatik. It can detect the PLC S7-200 or 300 connected and changes protocol automatically.

Darren.
