Dear all,

I'm involved in a pipeline project, the pipe/fitting materials are carbon steel (A106 gr.b/A234 gr.wpb) 16'' dia.,sch.80.(21.44mm).We have approved WPS,the pre-heat temperature mention in the procedure is 80 deg.C.The client QC advice us that follow the latest edition of ASME SECTION 9 with regards to pre-heat temperature and resubmit the procedure.
Can somebody help me what is the required pre-heat temperature as per latest edition of asme sec IX.
Thanks.....

Regards,
Mulz

I would strongly recommend that you engage a local welding engineer who is familiar with ASME IX to assist you with developing a suitable WPS and then monitor the Welder Qualification tests. This will save you much time and money in the long run, even though there is a cost associated with doing this.
